Hakomi Experiential Therapy combines the mindfulness and non-violence of Eastern spiritual traditions with a unique, highly effective Western methodology.
Hakomi is a body-centered, somatic psychotherapy . The body is experienced as a door that can be opened to reveal the whole character and belief system of the individual. The body's structures and habitual patterns become a powerful access route to unconscious core material.

The Hakomi Method allows the hidden beliefs which shape our lives and relationships to emerge safely into consciousness. Once conscious, they can be directly experienced and re-evaluated, and new dimensions of awareness can be integrated.
Loving presence and the healing relationship are central to Hakomi. We learn to develop an exquisite sensitivity and attunement to others, and to convey this understanding. This empathy and responsiveness helps to create a deep sense of safety and connection, and facilitates the effectiveness of therapy.
The Hakomi Institute was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1981 by Ron Kurtz and the Hakomi trainers. Since then, the Institute has expanded to offer Hakomi Trainings across the U.S. and internationally. Workshops and trainings are currently held in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

HAKOMI WITH ACUPUNCTURE AND ACUPRESSURE
The
combination of acupressure and acupuncture with mindful self awareness,
helps individuals discover beliefs, emotions and lifestyle choices that
influence their health and wellness. Tension and illness in the body
often reveal stress patterns and coping methods that are no longer
working.
Places of relaxation and openness lead to feelings of
well-being, peace and spiritual connection. The insights that reveal
themselves during this work are deeply satisfying and life changing. Bodymind work can heal the effects of stress, trauma and illness.
It gives us the experience of releasing from pent up feelings and relaxing in the body. Deep relaxation leads to physical healing, emotional well being and a feeling of connection to self and spirit. It is a wonderful compliment to traditional counseling.
ABOUT KAMALA AND HAKOMI
I
have been inspired by Hakomi since 1985 when I began training in the
method.
In 1988 I became a certified practitioner and in 1989 a member
of the Hakomi teaching staff. Since that time I have been developing a
blend of Hakomi methods, techniques and principles with my practice of
Jin Shin Do Bodymind Acupressure and with acupuncture and classical
Chinese medicine.
I have taught this blended work throughout the United
States and in Canada.
In addition I have written several articles on
bodymind wellness, developed training materials and authored a chapter
entitled “Enhancing Bodymind Awareness” in the book A Complete Guide to
Acupressure. This book was written by Iona Teeguarden and senior
teachers of Jin Shin Do.
