December 6-7, 2008 - Portland, Oregon

It is well understood that the emotions and the mind (thought, attitudes, beliefs, memories, and meaning) play a vital role in the etiology and healing of disease and pain.
In this workshop health care practitioners will learn integrative bodymind counseling techniques that enhance your ability to listen for, verbally acknowledge and explore mental and emotional patterns that interfere with a person’s ability to get well. These mindfulness based skills help you build rapport, create safety and quickly understand the inner world of your patient. This makes your assessment and treatment more effective, and opens the door for perspective, intuition and motivation to change.

The skills originate with Hakomi Experiential Psychology and are integrated into the practice of Chinese medicine.

Learn to:
  • Work with emotions that arise spontaneously during a session.
  • Work with the interface of psyche and soma.  Recognize and address mental and emotional patterns (psyche) that manifest through the body (soma) and interfere with the ability to heal.
  • Regulate emotional qi and calm shen by quieting the mind, clarifing what is needed, and working with direct experience to transform patterns and find internal resources.
